چکیده

Abstract A clique coloring of a graph is an assignment colors to its vertices such that no maximal monochromatic. We initiate the study structural parameterizations Clique Coloring problem which asks whether given has with q colors. For fixed $$q \ge 2$$ q ≥ 2 , we give $$\mathscr {O}^{\star }(q^{{\mathsf {tw}}})$$ O ⋆ ( tw ) -time algorithm when input together one tree decompositions width $${\mathsf {tw}} $$ . complement this result matching lower bound under Strong Exponential Time Hypothesis. furthermore show (when number unbounded) $$\mathsf {XP}$$ XP parameterized by clique-width.

Intractability of Clique-Width Parameterizations

We show that Edge Dominating Set, Hamiltonian Cycle, and Graph Coloring are W [1]-hard parameterized by clique-width. It was an open problem, explicitly mentioned in several papers, whether any of these problems is fixed parameter tractable when parameterized by the clique-width, that is, solvable in time g(k) · nO(1) on n-vertex graphs of clique-width k, where g is some function of k only. Our...

Clique-Relaxed Competitive Graph Coloring

In this paper we investigate a variation of the graph coloring game, as studied in [2]. In the original coloring game, two players, Alice and Bob, alternate coloring vertices on a graph with legal colors from a fixed color set, where a color α is legal for a vertex if said vertex has no neighbors colored α. Other variations of the game change this definition of a legal color. For a fixed color ...

Clique coloring B1-EPG graphs

We consider the problem of clique coloring, that is, coloring the vertices of a given graph such that no (maximal) clique of size at least two is monocolored. It is known that interval graphs are 2-clique colorable. In this paper we prove that B1-EPG graphs (edge intersection graphs of paths on a grid, where each path has at most one bend) are 4-clique colorable. Moreover, given a B1-EPG repres...

Complexity of clique coloring and related problems

A k-clique-coloring of a graph G is an assignment of k colors to the vertices of G such that every maximal (i.e., not extendable) clique of G contains two vertices with different colors. We show that deciding whether a graph has a k-clique-coloring is Σ 2 -complete for every k ≥ 2. The complexity of two related problems are also considered. A graph is k-clique-choosable, if for every k-list-ass...

On Structural Parameterizations of Firefighting

The Firefighting problem is defined as follows. At time t = 0, a fire breaks out at a vertex of a graph. At each time step t > 0, a firefighter permanently defends (protects) an unburned vertex, and the fire then spread to all undefended neighbors from the vertices on fire. This process stops when the fire cannot spread anymore. The goal is to find a sequence of vertices for the firefighter tha...
